Freeze-Glitchers
« on: August 20, 2014, 02:42:10 AM »
This thread will be used to report freeze-glitchers found on Tempus servers. As a reminder, the implications are as follows:

- Abusing any freeze glitching will result in:
1st time - Wipe of all your times
2nd time - 1 Month ban from all Tempus servers
3rd time - Permanent ban from all Tempus servers

To keep the top times on maps as fair as possible to all players, I encourage anyone to report potential freeze-glitchers, and we can investigate the demos. If you have been using freeze-glitchers on runs, stop and let me know so we can try clean out the times with offences. Any runs not reported would lead to a full player wipe as per the 1st time offence.

To kick us off, today the following punishments have been handed out:

Lolparty - 1st time offence, full player wipe

Jondy - 2nd time offence, full player wipe and 1 month ban from Tempus servers

Shoutout to FRAPS for high quality recording. If these are useful/enjoyable I'll keep doing them as we catch people.

To be fair that double catch is pretty much a run killer since the teleport is like 16 units high. Doesn't make them less pathetic though.

Pluto AND lolparty using lagbinds????? never!!!! Why, they are the people I trust the most when it comes to not being a colossal dumbasses. Neither of them have hyper inflated egos about stuff that doesn't matter. And they're both just so quiet and modest about everything they do.

fun fact: Pluto is premabanned from my server here's a paraphrase of the conversation that lead up to it.
Dumbass (pluto): "If flawless aviator you should give me your collecter's RJ."
Me: "No, go fuck yourself, how about I ban you from my server until you send me a flawless demo of it."
Dumbass: "Ok."
Me: "You're a dumbass"
This all happened on April-06-2014

Just so it's clear, these were used in actual timed runs, right?

Yes, timed runs. I've had a couple people ask about non-timed runs or for fun or whatever.

I would strongly suggest not freeze-glitching at all, even if it's 'just to show someone' or 'to try it out'. When I look over STV's, I cannot see player Timer HUDs. I do however see run finish messages, so it's obvious in those cases that they were timed runs. That being said, it's far from something you can accidently do (especially when used to finish a jump), so I wouldn't risk a full wipe over it.

I've had one player contact me privately for a single time that was freeze-glitched. That run has been deleted, and I will be reviewing STVs of their other times to try make sure they aren't hiding anything. If I find another run of them freeze-glitching (they have said there is only one), they will have all their times wiped. The punishments for 'one-offs' will vary depending on the situation, eg. a time set 1.5 months ago vs. someone doing a run now. I will basically try judge it over whether they player had reasonable awareness of the rule and implications.

Hope that clears things up, and it definitely wasn't directed at you Nightin. Just a good opportunity to put it into writing.
