Rank Tiers

As of this post there are 34125 ranked players on the tempus network yet you need to get above 5000 to get to the next rank tier. While it is still easy to rank up the first couple tiers it becomes increasingly difficult over time especially once you get to higher ranks. What made you divert from the ksf model where you just have to reach a certain amount of points. Would you consider ever changing it to that?

More maps are added over time, so simply reaching an arbitrary number of points means less and less over time.

Also, it is supposed to be difficult to reach the high tiers, otherwise there isn't a point.

I honestly don't think adding new maps would impact the rank progression too much. But keeping the system for the top ranks is better, I agree with you. That's the way KSF did it as well.

this is just my point of view but having an active ranking system like tempus does requires more skill and is more realistic

ranks have more meaning if they can be both gained and lost, and maintaining a rank shows that you truly deserve your spot

especially since the entire competitive part of jump is based around times which change constantly, the change in ranks reflects that better

KSF primarily uses your position relative to other players to determine ranking as well. Only the lowest few ranks require points alone and at that level it doesn't really matter, if you're competent you can get through the first few ranks in a few hours.

I agree with the tempus ranking system because it reqires dedication and time showing you are a dedicated jumper but it is just too much work to get above 100 I do not have the time for it.
