Am I supposed to strafe away from the wall when wall jumping?

Like on a long right wall. This pic seems to show you look/strafe away to the left with A after shooting then look/strafe back in with D before shooting again.




In this tutorial by Afterglow at 1:40 his keys shows he only strafes back in  after shooting and doesnt strafe away form the wall at all.




Which way is better?

You strafe back into the wall after a wallshot because the wallshot pushes you away from the wall, you don't strafe away from it.

Not sure where that picture is from but that is definitely a redundant button press.

I use A to strafe away, only at high speeds I notice I don't press A because you get pushed away less.
