Announcing the Jump Mapping Contest 2020!
"What is the Jump Mapping Contest?"It's an event where you can compete against other mappers to create the best soldier or demo jump map, with the winning entrants of each category being rewarded a monetary prize.
"How can I participate?"There are no requirements for entrants, simply start working on a map and submit it together with the required information in
our Discord server once you think it's done.
"How much time will I have?"The deadline for submissions will be the
18th of September.
"What can I win?"The top 3 entries of each category will be rewarded a split of the prize pool, which anyone can contribute to by donating throughout the entire event.
"What exactly are those splits?"The soldier and demo submissions will both be assigned 50% of the total prize pool. From there on it will be:
60% for the first place winner.
30% for the second place.
10% for the third place.
"How will the maps be rated?"There will be 2 separate ratings: One from the judges and one from the community.
The community rating will be a vote, where everyone can rate each map on a 1-10 scale. The average score of this will contribute 20% to the final map score.
Consequently, the judges rating will make up the remaining 80% of the total score. These ratings will be made public after the end of the event, however which ratings came from which judge will remain anonymous. Note that the exact way the judges rate the entries will remain secret throughout the entire event.

Finally a word of encouragement for people who might want to join, but who feel like they lack the experience to have any chance. There are many examples of first time mappers creating truly amazing maps. Sometimes it may take a new approach in order to create something great. So give it a try! At the very least you will gain a new level of appreciation for the hard work that has been put into making a fun jump map, and potentially even a new hobby. =]
