entdata limit

Hello mappers, does anyone have experience with going above the entdata limit?

I am currently working on a map that is basically finished and it has an entdata percentage of about 120 and I am unsure if it is necessary to cut back entdata. There are no problems running the map offline but I dont know if the limit would be a problem when running the map online.

Google searches provide contradicting feedback - some say it doesnt matter and others say it would crash servers.

Has anyone ever gone above the entdata limit? If yes did it work out and how far above were you?

ive definitely gone beyond 300% before and been fine. just type "status" in console while youre on it and make sure the edicts are under like 1500 and you're probably ok.

yeah entdata is a limit which doesn't really exist. iirc gorge hits numbers like 800% and his stuff still works on tempus. edicts is what will actually kill your map. it's just classic consistent source where 8193 brushes is unacceptable but 1200% phys is fine

Map works fine, entdata means nothing.

The only thing it could potentially maybe influence is if you have a relatively high edict count it might make the entities break before the 2048 edict limit. You know when rockets slide on ground, teleports don't work and stuff like that, I've had that happen on like 1500 edict before with high entdata, and when I lowered the number of edict it stoped doing it. Just a theory.
