The Grapple Hook

I am an engie jumper. I play a decent bit on JA dedicated west 1 and I've been jumping for about a year. I would like to say there are some "problems" with the new grapple hook for engie and by problem I mean engie jumping is a joke now. It used to be challenging and fun and now you just need one jump and the map is beaten. It genuinely trivialized every jump immensely (even more than the momentum storage glitch). Needless to say it will 100% teach bad lessons to people. I would like it if we removed the grapple entirely but after teaching someone how to engie jump i found its an excellent tool for teaching. so if we could get it restricted to people with the teacher role I believe it would be a massive improvement from what is happening now. That or give the grapple to pyro.

for all of easy,  med, hsync, and hpogo no. hard walls last is debatable if it can be done without it and it doesnt help on hmixed last

Thanks for your candid feedback.  We will be restricting the plugin to donors and staff on the main jump servers but still allow it to be run freely on the lounge servers.

We are also rolling out a new plugin courtesy of ILDPRUT that should reduce the sentry bullet spread to help the slower traditional sentry jumping be more predictable.

I also thought it would ruin the fun learning engi and didn't see the reason to have it added in the first place. Turns out it was added to give engi more mobility for another mode (I wouldn't say he was lacking that as bullets can make you go really fast). Since there was a bit of focus on engi I thought it might be nice to try and tackle the most annoying part of sentry jumping (IMO), which is the RNG-fest of trying to get enough distance/height on long straights. A wrangled sentry normally has a spread of a 3? cone, so I lowered it to 1.5? instead which I think feels good. It doesn't seem to ruin short/medium distances since you'd normally get hit by enough bullets to clear those ranges anyway. So it's only for long ranges it comes into effect and it made me feel way more in control. I also tried without spread, but that made getting a good start inconsequential since you could always get more speed later in the air.

Also as a side-note: hard walls last is possible even without this change. You can place a sentry above the start of the jump and bullet jump to the end. It requires a lot of luck though and I haven't done it before without having a save on my sentry since I didn't want to go through the destroy-build-get on dispenser-destroy-build-upgrade cycle every attempt.
