"Yeah, finally another sync jump! I only did syncs for like 50 minutes straight now -.-"

Well, I'm not a huge fan of splitting the whole map into the different types of jumps. How about putting in short tutorial courses (like 5 jumps per jump type) next to some varied courses where you have to combine these techniques (plus some extra elements like surf, shotgun, etc)?

I agree.

I think the best way to do this would be to split it into different tiers. So course 1 would teach everything a tier 1 jumper needs to know, course 2 would teach tier 2, etc.
And within the courses it could be broken down into introductory jumps (teaching people the different techniques, jumping, strafing, pogoing, etc) and more interesting jumps that put everything that was taught together. So they may learn to wall jump, then learn to strafe, and later on have a jump that incorporates both wall jumping and strafing.
This way you can (hopefully) avoid players feeling like they are grinding through the map, doing the same thing over and over again and getting bored.

you don't have logs for irc unless you're connected (or if you have a bnc) and google docs makes it difficult to see who's chatting

there's always discord

I made a slack account for jump.tf with a channel for JA, and invited a couple people. Check it out and see if it would be a good option.  It's very easy to add people and see who wrote what, and it archives up to 10,000 messages at a time between all channels I think.  I use it all the time at work.

This will work nicely, but it would help to have a mini-course to help teach and warm up, similar to the pogo mini-course on jump_oats.

Fantastic.  I will check that out.

Alternatively, I have finished setting up an Apache Wave instance on my VPS, if anyone wants to try this too.

So basically we want another 4starters, but the last 3 courses aren't all the same difficulty.

I'd be willing to help out.

4starters is probably too hard of a map to compare to even on earlier stages

The goal is to have way more baby steps than other maps, for beginning jumps.

Is there something you had in mind when you say not a normal map?

Well I mean.....

Sure the JA map now has issues, but the general idea was okay. I think we should combine the two; a regular jump map with a Jump Academy map.

For some reason the email I gave this website received three emails of applications to the jump academy mapper group. I'm not even in this group.

???

To add to this - what about a little demoman course? At least go over simple airpogos and groundpogos.

I wish I still knew how to map, haven't touched hammer since goldsrc. And that was ~5 years ago...  :-\
