I understand why someone would want to name something. Most of the time when something gets a name it's some new mechanic that people didn't know was in this 8 year old game. And it does feel really awesome to discover something completely new or some aspect of something existing. But for something to be deserving of a new name or even mention I think it needs 3 things.

1. Be completely new or a new addition to something old.
2. Be interesting, have some weird physics quirk, doing a bounce with the Detenator for example isn't interesting.
3. Be useful, powerbounce/rockethops are useful.

So the failed speedshot meets a whopping 0 criteria.

I discovered something ~3 months ago that I've told all of 3 people about and probably won't make a post here because while it's new and interesting it's completely useless.

Not all players know what "bouncehop/rockethop/etc" means, unless we tell them how to do so.

Honestly, I have no problem with whatever name it is, everyone has their own style of calling the techniques, and I call bouncehops as bunnyhop and powerbounce/rockethop as Bounce.

Arguing about jump technique names is pointless and stupid.

Just call whatever you want

And not all players know what skips, speedshots, etc. are, doesn't mean we should just start calling everything other names. New jumpers have to have learn each name and what they mean anyways. Having a standardized name helps everyone because people will always know what it means instead of having to guess what someone means. Bouncehop/bunnyhop i get because im pretty sure they are literally the same, just on/not on a teleporting surface. But regular bounces and powerbounces are two separate and very different technique. And tbh Im starting to think rockethop is better as it is much more clear on what is it and more accurately explains what is actually going on as it emphasises rocket and HOP. Powerbounce would work better with sync  bounces.

I love how every vocab thread ends up in a rockethop/powerbounce feud

Thread was completely irrelevant to it until exco admitted he can't comprehend the difference between two different techniques. Does he also get angry at skaters calling kickflips and 360 flips different names? Or differentiating between double/triple/quad/quint syncs?
doing a bounce with the Detenator for example isn't interesting.

Foss you weenie....a kickflip and a 360 flip are EXTREMELY different. I think you mean a tre flip and a 360 flip, pal

This thread is now about skateboarding mk

That would work if he was arguing powerbounce vs rockethop, literally the same thing with a different name. But he said it should just be called bouncehop, the base technique despite a rocket being added. e;g, a kickflip (bhop) + pop shoveit (rocket) = 360flip (powerbounce/rockethop). So he is basically saying it should just be called a kickflip. Alternatively a heelflip should just be called a backwards kickflip.

Anyways back to the discussion, Tony hawks american wasteland was really great and SKATE 2 > SKATE 3. If skate 2 had the added tricks/mechanics it would be GOAT. I honestly cant pinpoint why i liked 2 better but 3 just felt off.  :o

I don't really think there's much of a discussion to be had. The verdict was made on the first page of this thread.

But the skate games had the best glitches:
