Theme is a cool idea but forcing recording is a good way to get a lot less people participating

I'd be down but having a 72-48 hour window would probably be better for everybody's sanity and sleep schedule.
Trust me 24 hours straight of mapping sucks balls.

My only request for this would be everyone needs to start from a blank vmf and limited prefab usage. Stuff like drexen's timer, a simple cp setup, or a brush font would be fine imo, but if somebody just has an extra jump laying around it shouldn't be allowed.

For difficulty I would try to stick to T4 max just because those are easy to test.

I like the idea of having judges, maybe have a couple that have never opened hammer but are still good jumpers, and a couple experienced mappers.

wasn't hexahedron done in 24h?

I was going to suggest the mapping resource file as the extent of the prefabs allowed. Font prefabs would be fine too.Don't really know anyway to force clean map files (in the absence of forcing streams) other than don't be an asshole who cheats for fake internet points. But a blank vmf is the idea.

Another option for the time schedule is for instance is to start on a NZ/AU Sat morning and end for US West Sunday evening.

no teaming up tbh it's a map contest in which everyone should have equal footing

if 2 of the top mappers join together to make a top tier map then everyone is donezo

If its over a weekend, i'd be willing to do it(as long as I dont have to stream it, because my shitty computer can barely handle hammer by itself).
Should there be a minimum number of jumps?
Can you have a tester, or is it completely solo? cuz I owe someone a demo map, and they probably should be able to test it before the release.

Streaming shouldn't be required.

I don't think there should be a minimum number of jumps but adding it as a judging criteria could work. 7 amazingly made jumps will always be better than 30 shit ones.

I think tester's would be fine, getting the map to them and getting feedback would be enough of a time sink for it to be fair.
The point is everybody just throws something awful together in a short amount of time then we release those as an _a1 or something then the mapmakers are free to refine it after the event as they want.

I'd be down to do this. I've been jumping for a while but only just got the hang of hammer a month or two ago... I also like the idea of different categories (best new mapper, most creative jump, weirdest map, that sort of thing)

My only worry is the 24hr time limit. If you're having a category for best new mapper, you probably won't find many new people with a 1 day time limit - I'd make it 72hrs if you want to keep that category
I challenge you to a dance off.

Like I said earlier, I'm leaning towards a 48+ hr thing (sat morning AU/NZ until US West evening)

I'd do it, as long as it's during the time that I'm not in the army (weekends), I haven't touched Hammer in awhile. I'd even stream it

What do you guys think of adding a category for trickjump/freestyle maps? I think a lot of people could crank out one of those in 48 hours.

If more than 1 gets submitted I don't see why not. Otherwise you can win the special snowflake award :)

Also for those playing at home, I'm leaning towards sometime in probably mid June for this. I've made a steamgroup for mappers who want to participate so hit me up if you want in, I can post updates in there for those who don't check on here too often as well.

I'm also likely to use the group to get people to submit the maps, and judge (if we go that route, otherwise we can do a poll fiesta here) in order to keep my sanity
