Manipulation of pitchdown values to achieve bouncehops or bounces is now a wipeable and potentially bannable offence. Players who have previously abused this will have their times, where pitchdown was used, wiped, but will not receive a ban. Future offences will be treated with the same severity as freeze glitching, and the main rules list has been updated to reflect this.

How to identify usage of pitchdown
  • Player consistently locates specific angles almost instantaneously where they otherwise wouldn't be able to (i.e. angles in between the maximum and minimum vertical view angles)
  • Generally used at heights where conventional bouncehops/bounces aren't possible
  • If unsure, ask experienced players to review the time before reporting it

If you believe that a time has been achieved using pitchdown, please use the report function, accessed either by using !report and then following the prompts or by viewing the offending time directly and selecting "Report Time" and following the chat prompt or contact either Sere or myself directly.

tl;dr:
Pitchdown against rules, times wiped, !report any offending times.

It's happening!

Hopefully angled bhops will still be a thing without the pitchdown method, it's such a cool trick.

I am not against the rule or supporting pitchdown whatsoever but a few things,
1) This might be a stupid question, but what if your sens is too high and can't locate the angle? If you were to lower your sens, it would probably be hard to pogo comfortably(if you have to) after the bhop.
2) Do tts, course wrs, bonus wrs, and maybe even normal map runs(whereas the demos are not uploaded) with use of pitchdown get wiped too?
3) Are there any 1st-chance warnings before the wipe/ban offense?

Just to give my personal opinion on this:
I don't think a preferential treatment should be a thing just because some people use high sens. It could get really annoying really quickly for everyone ::)

bind <key> "toggle sensitivity <normal sens> 0.1"

or replace 0.1 with anything you feel comfortable with. Mine's bound to R, easy to hit after the angle hop.

Scorch covered this quite well, but to add to what he said, generally angled bhops are used to skip very long downpogos, and while I agree it isn't always practical, you could even switch back and forth in console between your sensitivities after you shoot if you type in a really low value and your actual sensitivity, and then accessing them using the arrow keys (up and down) and still have enough time to perform the bhop.
Of course the method Scorch suggested is a lot better for every situation.
2) Do tts, course wrs, bonus wrs, and maybe even normal map runs(whereas the demos are not uploaded) with use of pitchdown get wiped too?
Yes, they will all be wiped. Even though there is no time saved by using pitchdown (besides time spent grinding) if you are inside of the starting zone of a bonus for example, it will still be treated with the same mindset of one done during a run.
3) Are there any 1st-chance warnings before the wipe/ban offense?
If kurt.santagada2003 decides to try pitchdown on a single run without knowing the consequences, then some leniency will be shown regarding a total wipe or ban, but the offending time will be wiped regardless and the player will be warned. However, if the player continues to use pitchdown, they will face the punishment as defined in the rules. With that being said, the punishment is not concrete, and could become more or less severe depending on the context.

please amend your statement from "very quickly" to "instantly" because myself and several others have gotten pretty quick with angles, but there is an enormous distncton from doing it manually and having the screen flick to the angle in one frame

that said, holy shit im glad tempus has finally achieved active moderation

This is a very valid concern, I strayed away from using instantly because they still have to move their mouse down to the angle. The difference is quite obvious and even if you manage to get the angle a few times almost instantaneously, consistency will be the main give away. I will clarify the definition though.

So if you guys aren't gonna stop people from using the pitchdown command by banning the command itself, should you have top times (basicaly top 10 in a map) be validated by a pv demo? And what if no one is on the server at the time of the run, who can report the run as cheated and how will it be checked? Kinda curious.

You could ask the same thing for freezeglitch, maybe there's freezeglitch tt out there that nobody knows about. I don't think that's a big issue, cause someone who freezeglitch/pitchdown once, will do it again in the future and get caught.

nb4 someone gets an angled bhop first try and gets banned
  • Player consistently locates specific angles

So if you guys aren't gonna stop people from using the pitchdown command by banning the command itself
It currently can't be done in a manner that suits the server unfortunately.

Well unless you are willing to upload and watch every demo out there lol. But i think admins would only check suspicious runs by suspicious people.
