I have been jumping for a while and have got decent timing on my syncs. I can do triples fairly consistently but one thing is bothering me and that is that I cant see my rockets when I am falling down after I fire them. They are visible when I look up or when I shoot really early but it seems that in all the jump videos I see posted, all the rockets are easily visible. Is this my ping? I also noticed that if I fire one rocket earlier for a triple and i fire the next one when its lined up with my launcher it seems to be way off. Is this my ping also?
Thanks again.
hmm

You need to change your interpolation (cl_interp) settings. Google "tf2 interp".

keep in mind that those videos are also made using stv demos and look vastly different rocket wise

You can lower your interp, but it will never be as visible as in the posted videos (if those are stv demos). Also, your online interp will never be as low as your offline interp. The console might show that the interp values are different, but with offline, your interp is going to be lower. (I think offline shows the actual interp)

Ping plays a huge part, but even in offline you still can't fully see them. Just need to learn the timing

- make your interp low as possible (recommended : 0.000000010)
- low ping

Zigzati said that in the comment section of afterglow's in-game settings tutorial:
"You can actually get your interp/lerp down to 0 with these settings:
cl_cmdrate 100
cl_updaterate 100000
cl_interp 0
cl_interp_ratio 0
cl_lagcompensation 1
cl_pred_optimize 2
cl_smooth 0
cl_smoothtime .01
rate 100000

You can get complete 0. And yes, it makes a very noticeable and significant difference. With 0 it's much easier because you can clearly see the rocket coming out and there is less delay. Seeing the stickies coming out is also way more important for demo airpogo, it makes it a lot more consistent and reduces the frequency of guessing where the sticky will be."
I use that as well, I have around .000000010 interp.

sv_client_min_interp_ratio -1
cl_interp_Ratio -1
cl_interp 0

in that order, has to be done while in spectate and if you switch classes itll change back to 15.2 ms so if you want to record a demo with 0 lerp you have to go to spectator, start recording, put in the 3 commands, then join a team (if youre recording a POV demo that is, which you should be)

so basically it comes down to feel?

That's pretty much how everyone here will answer the question, yes. That's how 90% of jumping is learned, just by feel of the game mechanics and shit

Change your interp first then get the feel for it. I had my interp on default for like 2 years and was progressing really slowly until I changed it.
