Hi all,
Thanks again for the support during the development of jump_nights.
Now for some important and unfortunate news:
While the map was running on Tempus earlier today, gibus discovered a map-side flaw that could unfairly prevent people from completing the last (9th) triple on the second bonus. The shootable wall near the floor is sticking out 1 hammer unit potentially causing players to land on top of the shootable wall instead of the ground causing them to fail the final triple. While this flaw impacts relatively few people, it does impact them in a particularly frustrating way since they completed 8 not-so-easy triples to that point. At this point I have two options:
1) Keep the map as is as since I declared it to be final and bugs like these may inevitably continue to show up despite efforts in minimizing them.
2) Release jump_nights_fix which fixes this visually barely-noticeable but annoying flaw.
Releasing a new version is something I really wanted to avoid at this point for two reasons:
1) xHappy- worked hard making not one but two awesome showcases.
2) There are quite a few times on the Tempus servers, and it would be unfortunate for those to be wiped.
That said, since this potential release is simply a bugfix and does not at all update the jumps themselves:
1) Assuming xHappy- is okay with it, the second showcase can potentially be retitled since it still showcases exactly what is on the map.
2) As for Tempus, I'm not sure how easy/difficult it is to transfer times from one map to another, but if I release this fixed map, I don't think any times need to be wiped.
So if it is not too much trouble, I would like to hear from the community, especially from xHappy- and server/Tempus admins, what would you do if I released jump_nights_fix?
Sorry that this issue popped up, but this post needed to be made.
