Trick jumps are hard to find (at least for me) and lots of people just play through the maps without thinking "hey that would be a cool jump I could do". But I think that even just by saying that this is a problem more people will try to find jumps.
(also doesn't help that most of the community will see the JOTW's and think "wow they're so much better than me, i'll never be able to do a jump good enough to get featured" so they don't try. Probably much the same with montages.
