That version is just to maintain consistency between Tempus and offline runs, the other version is exactly the same otherwise and can be used for runs. Though for consistency and to save nick trouble it's probably better to just use rc3

I'm sorry I have to make this complaint, but I do.

jump_serenity is clearly a jurf map, which is fine if you like jurf, but in the showcase it pretends that it's not a jurf map even though doing the jurf strats is, in my opinion, easier than doing the jumps. The result of this is that is that to get a participation medal you need a run that's faster than 2:45, which is very easy, and that is fine if you want a lot of people to participate. But compare this to the other beginnings maps; the top 50 online runs alone on serenity are all less than 1min, while to get less than showcase time on lithium and thus a participation medal you need to be in the top 25 (of current online runs). On obelisk the only online run that's faster than showcase is wr, and the situation is similar for the other 3 maps. I do not find this fair to jumpers who want to do just the demo maps or jumpers who don't much care for jurf maps (maybe just me), since participation medals are made a commodity by jump_serenity.

What I'm complaining about is that its too easy to get a participation medal from jump_serenity than to get it from other maps. I've heard that maybe the time requirement will be dropped for stage 3 maps or maybe there is a solution already being thought up. But as it stands I don't feel motivated to submit a run since I know most anyone who runs serenity will get a medal of participation easily while anyone running on any other map will have a much harder time getting a participation medal, and I've also heard that the spreadsheets aren't public.

If you want an exclussive and hard-earned medal, go for top 3 times... The participation medal shouldn't be hard to get.

I agree, but the participation medal is very hard to get on stage 2 and 3 maps, and is still pretty hard to get on the stage 1 demo map, yet is laughably easy to get on the stage 1 soldier map. Did you even read my post?

How should I name the pov demos for a coop trickjump?
in the example says: "bg5_player1_player2_coop_123_stv"
on the povs i should name them "bg5_player1_coop_123_pov \ bg5_player2_coop_123_pov"? Or just like the example but with 'pov' at the end?

The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for beating harder times.

As for the thresholds, we selected initial values based upon data from the video and other adjustments made to medal rewards before launch. Among other things, we're looking at average per-player submissions on a daily basis, and we'll be making constant adjustments to ensure that players have challenges that are compelling, rewarding, and of course attainable via gameplay.

We appreciate the candid feedback, and the passion the community has put forth around the current topics here on our forums and across numerous social media outlets.

Our team will continue to make changes and monitor community feedback and update everyone as soon and as often as we can.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand jump_serenity. The strats are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical Source physics most of the jumps will go over a typical player's head.

Am I screwed if I can't figure out what tick my demo started on?
I can't find any way to do so after recording the demo and I don't know if it has to be done before or during recording the demo. I did the run on serenity if that's of any use.

edit: Does the tick info in the filename mean the number of ticks in the demo?

A demo always starts on tick 0. We're looking for the tick value where your run begins so we don't have to search the entirety of your demo to find your run. If you restarted the recording after every reset, then the tick value we want would be 0. If you had started recording and reset a bunch of times, then we would need a tick number to know when to see your run.

You can get the tick value by opening up the demoui (shift+f2) when playing back a demo. You'll see a box labeled Tick: xx / yy where xx is the current tick in the demo and yy is the total number of ticks in the demo.

helpful information

Thanks for the clarification. I was worried it'd be something weird like what tick the server was on when I started recording (dunno why I thought that). I recorded all of my runs so far as separate demos, so even though I bungled the submission I sent for serenity it shouldn't be too much of a problem (hopefully).
