Jump_omega_redo

Originally made for the first jump jam, this map had major cheats and issues with it. Yet I refused to keep it off Tempus and refine it because I was burnt out after 3 days of pretty much non-stop hammer, and I didn’t want to be bothered with fixing it.

After a while, Generic comes and asks for me to remake it. I said no.

But that got me thinking, what if I did remake it into something that people would actually want to play? So a couple of months pass and I decide not only remake jump_omega, but also remake a load of other maps, most of which were so bad they would never be allowed on Tempus.

Jump_4soldier_redo

After the abomination of my first jump map jump_noh, I tried my hand at mapping again to make jump_4soldier. 4soldier had some good jumps, with mostly good spacing on all the jumps. The major issues include leaks (causing invisible water), missing textures, and everything was surrounded by skybox.

There wasn’t a whole to fix with the actual jumps, it was mostly just detailing everything and having the jumper being able to see the entire map ala jump_rnc.

This was my favorite to remake because I had the greatest attachment to it, it has been with me for a good number of years, and I wanted to give it some love.

Jump_frost_redo

Oh boy. Listen, I know the original was shit, everyone knows. It was a mistake to make, and a mistake to bully it onto Tempus (despite the fact there was a reason to). To remake it, I first thought of just making a room with the words “sorry” covering the walls, but then I remembered that I had an unfinished map with already 10 jumps and snow themed.

I decided to clean up the detailing, fix up all the spacing issues, and then remove a jump (it was pretty bad, even by my old standards) to have an actual map with the name jump_frost

Jump_leicht_redo

My first real attempt at a speedrun map. It wasn’t much to look at, just boring old dev textures on a pretty short map (less than 30 seconds long). However, it was the first time I used light entities instead of relying solely on the skybox lighting.

The original wasn’t a terrible map, but some of the jumps were just too awkward to handle, and it never reached Tempus. Because of that, I wanted to remake it into something that might make the cut, all the while keeping to the original task of an easy speedrunning map (after all, leicht means easy in german).

Jump_super_redo

This was meant to be the demo map that would be my best one, since it was named after my alias. The soldier equivalent was meant to be jump_chuck, but after realizing how bad _super was, I decided to hit the reset button and work on my mapping skills first.

I personally thought the jumps were fine (yes, even #12), but there were so many cheats on each level that hardly anyone does it the intended way on a lot of the jumps. So I just got rid of a lot of those cheats, fixed a few jumps, replaced jump 12, and boom. Don’t worry, if you were as much a fan of #12 as I was, it’s now a bonus

I actually already redid this map and smacked the ending of _tmps to the map. I managed to fix a few things from the very original… I also may have added a lot more cheats with the tempus version…

Whatever, that’s in the past. What matters now is that I got rid of all the cheats (hopefully).
