Changing top 50/100 servers

Hi guys,

Would it be possible to change top 50/ top 100 servers where people who aren't ranked high could play but couldn't vote? That way servers can be used by everyone and high ranked jumpers could still play the map they want. It just seems like a waste to have these servers but not be able to play on them. They are never full anyway so I see no problem with having too many jumpers on them.

If you only restrict voting, you could have a server filled with players that don't meet the requirement which prevents high rank from even joining.

I must say that I very much agree, the restrictions are a bit too hard but unless you change the minimum ranks (could have a rank 50 server and a rank 200 maybe, or a rank 100 and a rank 500) there isn't an easy way to go around the restrictions...

I mean I get that it could happen and server could be full so high ranked players can't join, but when has a tempus server ever been full? Been playing since 2017 on tempus servers and not once couldn't I join because a server was full. Tempus servers aren't that well known unlike for example JA servers which can be full sometimes.

Seems pretty dumb to not implement it because of something that might happen.

Agree with poepie here, servers are so quiet nowadays I think opening them up might be a good idea.

Only problem I can see here is that if there were no rank 100s/50s playing then you would be at the mercy of random map changes with no way to RTV off of jump_when.

Could maybe lower the restrictions to 100/200?

I think I had a better idea. Make one of the servers demo maps only. Like others said I have never seen a full tempus server, but I have seen every eu server being on soldier maps.

One of the previous times this was brought up mentioned how letting people who don't meet the rank requirement play on a rank restricted server runs into two problems. Either you have no one able to vote and some random person 30 minutes into their run suddenly unable to extend the vote and confused why they can't because reading is the hardest thing in the world. Alternatively you let randoms extend, but then when ChadGamer69 joins wanting to rtv and crush wrs is he really gonna be the toxic guy rtving johnnydemoman off his 4 hour run of koi. The whole point is so high ranked players can have a place to go and get wrs or grind out T10 maps without having to wait around for ages for a server.

Exactly. It doesn't matter if the server is half-, or even quarter-full. Even if there is one person on a server, a high rank jumper that wants to grind a wr or run a T10 can't do that if johnnydemoman (Rank 1 in Yugoslavia) is out here playing jump_competetive for the badwater rollout practice. The high rank servers exist so that high rank jumpers can come and do high rank jumper stuff. Leave the servers as is IMO.
