What a revival to the jump timers! I was putting off working on skillsrank (lazy and school), but I definitely can work on a web front end for this, assuming you guys haven't found someone already (or are working on it anyways). Hope this does revive some parts of the jump community, as I know a lot of you just /love/ speedrunning.
You are our man.  With you and Jayess and I working together, I think we can make a nice functional front end for jump.tf and also tie it into the map list eventually.

No timer for 1 seperate bonus, group them together please.

this

Yea please group them together... Even for a map like bomb where the bonuses are separated it just seems too silly to speedrun a single level. And for maps like kilo or soar where the bonuses are put together in a course, it just seems to make way more sense to speedrun the entire bonus course.

Chain them all together or bust.

Other than the intimidating amount of commands it looks really slick guys, awesome work. Can't wait to see it on some more (closer) servers, hype! :D

??? Was wondering too,
So is this timer optimized for any specific jump plugin i.e. [JA]? or is it a stand alone plugin?

I'm gonna assume its separate since you can save/load/regen using Tempus? Would it be necessary for servers to remove JA, or would it work fine with it enabled? I guess if it's replacing pretty much all the functionality there wouldn't be much reason to keep it. Seems like an all-in-one type deal.

Having a timer for only one jump does seem quite silly.  I would do what Auroraahhhhh said and give options to speedrun the entire course and one jump, although I'm not sure why anyone would want to speedrun one jump.

Is there any ETA for expanding Tempus to more servers? Or will it happen when it happens.

We're very close to getting another test server going. We've had to wait for a number of exploits to get fixed, as well as a new authentication system for admins. I'll make a post when everything is locked in and getting set-up for the second test server.

@BQE sometimes we have to lock the server because we are breaking things badly with timer reloads! The server stays open 95% of the time.

I'm pretty sure the plugin is broken right now - I just joined and tried to rtv and it said "Tempus | I'mma let you finish wants to rock the vote (1/0 required) and then proceeded to do nothing.

Alright some of you would have seen and played on a US server that we just set-up to test some logistics. The IP of this server most likely will change, and the server itself is broken in many ways. I'll be doing a proper post later when the actual server is up and going, and its details.

@talkingmelon, yes we realise RTV is broken. We are still trying to narrow down the cause of it, hopefully we'll get it resolved soon.

With a US server hopefully coming up shortly, I figure it's a good time to do post our thoughts behind bonuses, and why we have set them up separately:
  • !mapinfo to show # of bonuses - currently looking at any map can tell you how many bonuses there are, myself and others have found this very useful. If we combined bonuses, the !mapinfo would currently show 1 bonus instead of the actual count
  • !b X command - Seperate bonuses means players can teleport to any bonus they like (eg. !b 2) and set a time
  • Bonuses aren't for speedrunning - We feel that maps and courses are the place for real speedrunning. Bonus are exactly what they are called, bonuses, or extra little side jumps for fun. If you treat them like runs and try get #1 in all of them, you aren't going to have fun. Instead they are fun side jumps, which offer very few points, even in the top 10 ranks
  • 50% of maps with bonuses, only have 1 bonus - I find the argument that people don't want to run single jumps, and instead want them linked pretty much flawed with about 50% of them being a single jump only. We figured we may as well make it consistent then across the map, and keep bonuses seperate

Points 1 and 2 could be fixed, but would require a reasonable reworking of the current system. We feel there are more important features to be spending our time on that making these changes. The feedback we have gotten in the AU test server is that people enjoy the individual bonuses, the convenience of teleporting to them, and generally don't take them too seriously.

I hope this clears things up, and keep an eye out for news about the next test server!

I'm happy to announce our 2nd Tempus server! Big thanks to Afterglow for volunteering to host this, and being patient while we took a while getting everything setup. There are still some things we need to get setup, but majority of functionality is there. Server is located east US.

So far Tempus seems like a huge success! Good job guys!

My only suggestion so far is to put the # of jumps per course on the /mapinfo window. We were on jump_turnip the other day and somebody asked how many jumps there are but nobody on there knew. I checked the /mapinfo window and saw that it doesn't have that info. Yeah if somebody really wanted to know they could find out another way but it would be nice to be able to see how many jumps each course has right there in the info window.

Probably not hard to implement. But it's a lot of work, since Rob would have to count all the jumps on each map. Would be easier of someone wants to do that. I am sure he is more than willing to implement it if someone did that for him. Since he already has a lot to do.

sometimes the timer dissapears in the middle of the run randomly and you have to start all over again. ty
