anyone know how to make a surf (like on a surf map) without having to combine 100 tilted ramps or some shit

If you want a straight ramp you only need to make one brush where the surf face is at an angle greater than 45 degrees.

If you want a curved ramp you need to make a shitload of brushes all at different angles and placed accordingly. You can either do this by hand, or the lazy way that I can't be bothered to take pictures of, but it uses paste special.

If you don't want the massive number of brushes in your map you need to make the ramp out of brushes, compile with propper, and replace the brushes with your new prop. Warning propper is a (really useful) bitch.

Or use the surf ramp prefab.  I forget where it is but it shouldnt be hard to find.

that is probably how to make bad ramps
they should be double the degrees from before

http://source.gamebanana.com/tuts/10863 is actually a good tutorial to ensure you make good ramps-- it's not hard but it will be tedious if you mess up.

the more segments you have the smoother it is

it's a pain to make ramps but surfing was never intended to be possible in the first place

I know how to make surf ramps. I have a surf map in the works. I used the same basic idea from that tutorial.

If anyone can't guess the aesthetic of my map that proves they are mentally handicapped.

Would it also work to make an arch and rotate it (for the desired ramp angle and to keep the bottom relatively level with the ground)?

That's the only way to do it besides using prefabs like the one sitood posted.

It's not very hard though. You just make a ramp, copy it, rotate it 5 degrees, zoom in as far as possible and align it off-grid with the previous ramp's edge. Then copy the previously rotated ramp and rotate it 5 degrees again. Rinse and repeat. Some people use more than 5 degrees since they are lazy but you shouldn't go over 10 degrees per ramp segment or the ramp will suck dick.

Convex ramps work the same way as concave ramps, you just have to cut off the overlaps with the cutting tool.

Also never resize a surfing ramp or it will get fucked up.
