My first soldier jump map
intermidate ~ hard speedrun map ::)
low tier 5 jump map


Current version : jump_shimano_v3

- Soldier (the map not friendly with demoman)  8)

Seems to be missing some textures. 

And, I know I'm a tad out of practice but damn this is probably the hardest map I've ever played.  Intermediate is an huge understatement IMO. Pros: good textures (besides the missing one(s)).  Cons: complex and difficult jumps didn't fit my taste.

One thing though: You should really build cubemaps on this one considering all the reflective surfaces, it's like purple checker poop all over the place. I had to deactivate reflections because of it.

Oh and you might have a leak somewhere, the screen gets all smeared all over the place if you noclip out of the first room, which is the typical behavior for a leak.

The jumps are quite unorthodox, I like it.

Comments for each jump
1: fine
2: the 3 pogo plats (and hence the speedshot and ending plat) can be further
3: fine
4: please put this later in the map, it's the hardest jump imo
5: the regen box ends after the gap in the wall, don't know if intentional or not. Also, you can stand on the border between the wall brushes after the gap
6: very strange tbh, can't say anything for improvements or criticisms
7: quite annoying if you ask me
8: I remember trying to make a jump like this long ago, it worked out well here I think, very good. The overheal at the top is unnecessary, overheal should only be used for anything that does more damage than a regular triple sync.
9: really easy for what comes before it
10: basically a soar 18
11: a lot of water triples... but this jump is fine, however too easy for what came before it

If you ask me, I think the order of the jumps should go something like this
1 - 2 - 3 - 9 - 11 - 5 - 10 - 6 - 8 - 7 - 4

It's all up to you of course, but some reordering should be done, it's pretty easy too because of the lack of connectors.

General Comments:
1. Please have back teleports
2. Jumps are generally well spaced
3. Most of the jumps teleport you to the centre of the starting plat... I personally think you should place the teleport near the right-side wall, because the vast majority of jumpers are right-handed, and many left-handed people have their mouse on the right anyway. Your choice, of course.
4. For aesthetics, you may want to try messing with different texture scales, because leaving everything at the default 0.25 doesn't look very good tbh, but generally the aesthetics are good, gives me a jump_bomb vibe.
5. The lighting is great, not too bright not too dark
6. Also, while I said it was still ok to wrap discrete jumps in hollow boxes, you should make the box sort of hug the jump, so there isn't this nodraw void when you noclip out of a jump for a period of time.
7. Additionally, 11 is a rather... arbitrary number. Make it 12 maybe?

thats nodraw , i put huge hollow nodraw on 1-3 and 6
ill put cubemaps in next version  ;)

there's a cheat on 10 where you wallclimb then double in the start area, then double on the speedshot plat, then triple. i'd personally leave it in because its sorta hard to do but w/e.

At jump 4, I would put jump above crouch not a crouch above jump. because at first I though it was a crouchjump, but its just a jump and then hold crouch.
The scorpium strats though :)

i forgot about this one , add nongrenades in next version !!
