Bounce jumps?

just to weigh in, i find that finding the timing for a crouched bounce is harder than finding timing for a bhop, because bhop timing is always consistent- jump when u hit the ground, whereas the timing for crouch bounces is different every time, and you have no real frame of reference for it. you're just shooting a rocket in the air and hoping you land the same tick it explodes.

Actually the timing for all bounces below some arbitrary point (~90 ticks of falling) is exactly the same. Then above 16.5 u/t (possibly less) they all are 1-4 ticks off of the last one and the amount they are off increases as vertical speed increases. I really should make a spreadsheet for this, just for fun. EDIT: I THINK! I could be wrong here

But yeah bouncehops are 100% the same and are easier no question.

I see your point and I understand, but I personally find crouched bounces easier to get. I never actually practiced bhops and I  believe both things aren't that different (difficulty-wise).

I know it's technically wrong, but it feels like the timing for pressing space (or scrolling) is really different depending on height and speed for bouncehops, while bounces feel way more consistent to me (ones that are lower than 1.5k units). At least I started feeling like that after ~350 hours into doing bhops/bounces.

There's some jump height or texture that really feel like the space pressing for the bhop is different. For example, after grinding jump_bouncehop a lot to get a good time, I had a pretty good understanding of the timing to get all the bhop for that map. Then, I got into jump_bounce and both bhop there felt like I had to press space WAY before than what i was used to.

I find the timing i was used to when i was running bouncehop is generally what i use for any bhop i need to do now. There is those weird exception tho, one that comes to my mind is the ceiling bhop strat on jump_core, the jump that is intended as a skip to catch to wallpogo down to pogo. I feel I have to press space so early in that jump that when i get it im always surprise it worked lol

As for the timing of crouch bounces, might just be me, but i can usually just time any bounce by using a texture on the wall or a overhang wall to notmake it all just by feeling and timing. For example, on the wallpogo jump in jump_above that you can jump to crouch, i use the blue line on the wall, I shoot when i get to it and get the bounce most of the time. Or like in jump_bounce last, I time it by shooting right after I go pass the overhang wall.

Those textures timing strat for bounces and the space timing for bhop also feel that works no matter what ping I'm on. I can bhop or bounce doing the same exact timing strat on asia at 250 ping, or on na with 40 ping.

Because you can only scroll the mousewheel for a certain amount of time, if you are falling faster the distance you cover during this time is greater so it feels like you have to jump earlier. The same applies for pushing spacebar, since in the time you take to think about and then push spacebar you have fallen a distance, further if you are going faster. As for ones of similar height it is probably just you.

i'm going to weigh in again, i think some of you guys need more bouncehop practice, because i'm serious when i say i have a much much easier time doing any bouncehop than i do any crouch bounce, because as RNC said bhops are all 100% the same timing

it appears different when you're going faster, sure, but you still know when to press space- when you hit the ground
