An easy/intermediate soldier jump map, with 2 courses and 25 jumps. Made by Tx_ and Mac McNumpkin.

Special thanks to blindgirl for the texture idea and the tutorial on buttons.

Another idea would be to add some demo challenges like airpogo distance or something.

the spaces between the speedshots seems a bit small, I have to hold backwards most of the time, I'm not sure if that's intended or not, but it's kinda' annoying...

Good map otherwise, nice idea.

Did you compile with HDR? that makes it really bright

Nope, but I set everything to fast in the compile options. Could that have messed it up?

other than that you may have accidentally tampered with the light_environment?

If i had done that, wouldn't the whole map be really bright, not just 1 jump? I don't think i have...

Dafaq has happened to the lighting on this jump?

Comparison from another jump;

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I cant see anything different between the 2 jumps in hammer, but i'm self taught and have no idea what i'm doing, so help would be appreciated.

Nice map, nice textures, dislike the surf jump but that's personal opinion, and I had no idea how to do the bonus.

I found no bugs, but the teleports on some of the jumps with doors are kind of annoying. On number 7, i noticed that you teleport well before the door closes which is a bit frustrating. I'm quite a noob to hammer myself, but i thought you could parent the teleports to the doors, so that they move together(?) Might be worth changing it if that's possible.

Keep up the good work.

use the block entity "func_nogrenade" put it like one unit away from the wall.
this will just kill the rocket even stickies if i remember correctly.

Okay, big thanks, seems basic enough.

invisible walls should not be the way to solve problems a lot of people just hate it if they cant see why they cant get there, glass texture is one solution.

this should help you
good luck

I'm trying to keep my map to a theme of snowy mountains, and huge glass blocks along the walls would ruin the feel of the map, so I don't think i'll be using them, but thanks anyway.

also, i don't think you can have a displacement as entity, no

Damn... So are my only options to make teleport triggers or player clip walls away from my displacements, so that they cant be jumped off? Or is there something else that I could do, that would feel smoother than putting invisible walls everywhere?

Well I'm new to Hammer, and have no idea how to correct any of these lighting bugs because I'm a noob, so to all other mappers who know what they're doing...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

... What do?

(2nd image is the edge of a displacement joining up with flat ground)

Also, another question, can i make a displacement out of a wall that rockets don't explode on?

Many thanks in advance, much love to you all.

I've noticed a change in B2 also. It's much harder than it needs to be. I used to jump with some of my friends who don't jump so often, and they liked B because it was medium difficulty, but now they get stuck at the second, whereas it used to take them around 5 to 10 attempts. The map has also been running on TPN's jump server for a while and has gotten a few complaints about it being harder than before. I'm not sure if this was intentional, but my friends hate it.

EDIT: I played through the new bonus with a friend, and that was really fun. Well done. I'd love to see more of this kind of thing, maybe even a whole map devoted to it.
