MGE iT will be permanently closing it's doors on
Saturday, April 21st 2012


Unfortunately we will be saying goodbye to MGE iT. Thank you to everyone who played here, and a HUGE thanks to Lange for everything he did for us. It has been a fun ride and we have made so many new friends who I hope will still visit us on the other iT servers.

Ummm for various reasons. All of the non-jump servers I have added really had 1 main purpose - try to bring people from other tf2 game types to jumping. Surf iT was (and still is) very successful... and well Bball is kind of a given - and I think a lot of the reasons surf did this so well was because it is in irc with jumpit. MGE iT originally had relay on with irc... but the !add/!remove spam was too much - Not to mention 99.9% of the time they ignored the chat altogether. We finally just turned the relay off with mge. I feel like irc is what kind of made the iT servers more of a community and mge just wasnt there.

The thing with MGE iT is it has become insanely popular - right behind Jump iT on gametracker actually... but it is not doing its job. And the more popular it has become, the bigger headache it has turned into for me. I feel so bad for taking it down because I know a lot of people play there... but when a server I never use becomes more of a hassle/drama cesspool while not even bringing in new people, decisions have to be made.

I really do feel like shit for this... but it needs to be done.

I always thought it mainly got cut out of irc because the people in mge it are assholes and argue constantly.

Lord if we kicked people out of irc for being assholes there would be maybe 5 people left... but yeah when mge was relaying the shit talking between the players would often spread to jump and surf and it would get really obnoxious. The difference between mge shit talking and the normal "shit talk" on jump / surf is mge gets really nasty and rude (which i guess is normal for mge servers)... whereas jump / surf is much more mild and joke-ish. Nasty text (even from a different server) still brings down the mood... and like I said before the people on mge didn't engage in irc like people do on the other servers, which I can understand as they are dueling constantly and not reading chat.

Probably my favorite thing that has come about with jump / surf is the way the two have in a way become one because of irc. Our jumpers surf and our surfers now jump... and its like one big happy family. I guess I was just hoping we would have the same luck with MGE, but I completely understand why it didn't mesh.

Any chance it could turn into a second jump server?  Almost every time I check Jump iT, it's completely full...except late at night.
