What do you mean with the shields?

I assume he means use the charge but that's hardly a challenge unless the charge prevents you from strafing early enough. Otherwise you easily have enough speed.

70 fov is ok i really dont understand what could be wrong with that

oh dear

90 fov will let you see more of the world around you in the same screen space as 70 fov. higher fov is objectively better until you hit about 110/120 (varies per game) or unless you're gaming like 10m away from your screen

Here's no-regen-sound.vpk.  Save it to tf/custom/ folder.  Can't help with pain sounds since I haven't disabled mine.

In the Helpful Links to Stuff thread there is a sound file that will replace your regen sounds, but since steampipe, I'm not quite sure where it goes.

Try setting cl_interp 0.1 during demos, having it anything other than that can cause horrendous stuttering when spectating certain players.

Are you sure your computer can handle running TF2 at higher than highest settings at more than 10fps?

I finally just got around to reading your posts, thanks for the help! and when using scotteh's 3steps, handbrake is much simpler than megui. Last question though, when uploading to youtube is it best to upload it via sony vegas, or straight to youtube, any other silly way or does it not even really matter?

I'd go straight through youtube personally to skip any extra stuff that might get added through third party uploading. E.g. exporting from twitch adds your stream name and uploading replays adds your steam profile, not that those are necessarily bad.

Play the standard maps (badlands/granary/process/etc) and practice jumps with the infinite ammo script and a button bound to noclip so you can reset quickly.

This basically. The best way to become familiar with maps is to just jump around them constantly. For rollouts, use the following script

bind "r" "impulse 101"

bind "b" "mp_restartgame_immediate 1; wait 600; hurtme -160"

It will allow you to reset the map by pressing b and give you an automatic overheal. You might need to fiddle with the value of the overheal a bit since 160 is enough to give a demo 260 when leaving spawn, it won't be right for soldier.

If you want to become familiar with the map, infinite health and ammo and go nuts. If you want to plan for bombs though, do the following

with x as any key you want to give you the right amount of health so you can estimate the sort of jumps you can do when bombing in. With gunboats, health generally isn't an issue, but if you're going for insane bombs like doing a pogo rampslide on process, it can take more health than you might realise.

Personally I'd go over the whole map. If there was a particular jump that you were getting stuck on and you restarted every time, you'd end up getting really fast up to that jump and getting some decent practice at that jump, but the rest of the level would require a lot more practice
