General Discussion / Closed Democall
« on: October 14, 2013, 06:29:20 PM »
I want to make a ~3 min video, was planning to use frags but a lot of people have been asking me to go back to jump content so I figured I'll start alternating. Looking for five jumpers who can send me three jumps each, must have stv demos to go with the jumps too.

If you're interested just reply to the thread, and after I get five people I'll announce it. Only accepting jumpers I know unless you can show me that you're really good.

ps. The reason for doing it this way instead of a democall open to everyone is so I know exactly how many demos I'm going to get.

pps. You don't need to have the three jumps ready to go in order to post here. After I pick the five people you can have about six weeks to get the jumps done. I'm in no rush.

Not a jump movie this time but I figured I'd post it anyways. I recommend the download because the bright colours on youtube look pretty bad.

Here's the movie: http://youtu.be/zsFdOWKF24M

Hi, I'm on break for two weeks so I was planning to do a smaller jump movie while I'm off (probably about 20 jumps total).

The requirements for this movie are similar to those in the past. A SourceTV demo of the jump must be included, and ideally a pov demo of each player as well. I do not want demos from untextured or broken maps, and please do not record with the festive weapons either. I'm looking primarily for creative jumps that showcase many of the different classes in tf2, both individual and coop jumps are fine. Feel free to try out the new unlocks, but avoid any custom mods like conc jumping or the bungee jumps. Please submit all the demos to me through steam to avoid public viewing of the jumps before they're released in the video. Also, make sure you hold onto the demos until after the movie has been released. Last time there were a few people who deleted them right away and I had not downloaded them by that point.

No deadline right now, I'll announce when I have nearly enough jumps to use though.

General Discussion / TF2 Jump Movie Democall (#BYP Movie Contest)
« on: July 01, 2012, 12:51:31 PM »
Hi,

The Boneyard Productions Movie Contest was recently announced and I decided to enter with another community jump movie. The deadline for this contest is August 17th which does not give a lot of time considering how long these movies typically take to create, so if you're planning on submitting jumps please do so as early as you can.

The requirements for this movie are similar to those in the past. A SourceTV demo of the jump must be included, and ideally a pov demo of each player as well. I do not want demos from untextured or broken maps, and please do not record with the festive weapons either. Like Freedom, I'm looking primarily for creative team jumps that showcase many of the different classes in tf2. If we can at least match the quality of the jumps in Freedom I think the movie will be very successful in the competition.

Anyways, if this movie were to win in the contest there would be a cash prize of $250 ($150 of which will go towards the iT servers) and it will be played live at the i46 event right before the TF2 Finals. I think this would be awesome seeing how 10 000 or so people will either be watching it live at the event or across one of the streams.

The deadline for this democall is July 25th, but I encourage you to submit jumps as early as possible.

I'll probably update this post with more info because I always forget to include everything I want to say. Anyways, I hope to receive some more amazing jumps.

I'm gonna try this again, hopefully the turnout will be better than last time. All the recent movies have just been the same thing over and over again (speedshots, ramp slides and the occasional double) so I want to see new and creative jumps. You can use whatever you want basically, any number of people, any weapons, any classes, but try to keep it on the creative side, and not overdone to the point where it's just gimmicky. Preferably use maps that are textured, if the map looks like it was thrown together in hammer in 20 minutes I probably won't accept the demo. Same goes for the jumps, spend some time on them. I'm making the deadline January 13th, giving you two weeks to come up with and record jumps. Like the past movies it might be changed around a little closer to the deadline day.

The format is a little stricter this time around to keep the demos more organized. You must name the demo class_tick_map_type, where class is the class the jump is done by (use "multi" if it's more than one person), tick is the approximate tick that the jump takes place, map is the map it is done on, and type is the type of demo (Point of View or SourceTV). YOU MUST RECORD BOTH A POV AND STV DEMO WITH AT LEAST 500 TICKS BEFORE AND AFTER THE JUMP. I would prefer that you upload all your submitted demos in a single file, it saves a lot of time for both of us.

If you need a server to record your jumps on, message me and I'll find you room somewhere. Don't forget that you can record STV demos on a local server too, just use the command tv_enable 1, then reload the map through console with the command map jump_whatever. To record a STV demo just use the commands tv_record demoname and tv_stoprecord.

Demos should be submitted in this thread only, this democall will probably be posted elsewhere but keeping track of posts on 5+ forums is just unnecessary work and I'm lazy.

Sorry if I missed anything I'm still half-asleep.  :'(

General Discussion / New Skate iT Server
« on: August 05, 2011, 02:52:32 PM »
After watching
Team Fortress 2 - Pro Skater
on youtube Klare and I decided a Skate iT server would be a fun way to continue to expand out to different game modes. Right now the coding of the custom mod to track points is just beginning. Expect it to be finished in several weeks.

The plan is a 12 slot server in which players compete to earn the most points within a set time limit (most likely 10 minutes). The total earned points, as well as the Win/Loss Ratio of each player will be recorded into the same database as the Jump/Surf times. To start, stock maps will most likely be used, however as time passes we'll look into making custom Skate maps designed for the game mode.

I'm going to make a new movie, the progress will be really slow though, since I'm working 10 hours a day all summer :\ (starting next week probably).

After Tears In Rain I think we've pretty much hit the skill ceiling for rocket/sticky jumps, so instead of difficulty I'm looking more for creative jumps. Experiment, try using the wrangler, caber, liberty launcher, two people, three people, no people, whatever works and looks cool. You can also send in cool frags in regular game play, as long as they include jumping in some form (eg. double rj to medic kill using mantreads). I've also messaged a few people about possibly including surfing in this movie.

If you need a server to use for multi-person jumps, we can close off JumpiT occasionally for recording. Also, I'd prefer you try to do jumps on official maps. If you're going to use custom maps, try to pick the most recent version, and hopefully a map that is textured. For now I'm setting the deadline for July 25th, however the mapping contest ends at a similar time so I might end up extending it a little if needed.
